چکیده
Abstract The introduction of heavy metals by industries in the aquatic ecosystem is a threatening alarm for living organisms. Bioremediation an eco-friendly and inexpensive technique as alternative to chemical methods wastewater treatment. Wastewater samples were collected from ponds receiving effluents Kot Lakhpat Industrial zone, Lahore (Pakistan). Heavy metal-resistant ciliate, Paramecium multimicronucleatum was isolated characterized with help 18SrRNA biomarker. ciliate showed optimum growth at 25 °C ± 1 pH 7. Growth patterns P. observed without metal stress wheat grain medium. minimum inhibitory concentration cadmium, copper, zinc, lead 60, 70, 110, 160 μ g ml −1 , respectively. maximum uptake Paramecia Cd, Cu, Zn recorded 90%, 82%, 93% respectively after 96 h exposure each case. While 90% ions absorbed cells 48 exposure. order ability sp. 2+ > Cd Cu Pb . This preliminary study exploring bioremediation this would be helpful investigating it further using advanced molecular techniques.

Removal of Heavy Metals from Industrial Wastewater Using Rice Husks
Heavy metals are widely used in textile industries and significant losses occur during the manufacture and processing of textiles, and these lost heavy metals are discharged in the effluent. Adsorption of heavy metals is a new technology for treatment of wastewater containing different types of selected heavy metals. In this study, adsorbents Carbonized Rice Husk (CRH) and Activated Rice Husk (...
متن کاملElectrokinetic enhancement removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater sludge.
An enhanced electrokinetic process for removal of metals (Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn) from an industrial wastewater sludge was performed. The electrokinetic experiments were conducted under a constant potential gradient (1.25 V cm(-1)) with processing fluids of tap water (TW), sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and citric acid (CA) for 5 days. Results showed that metal removal efficiency of heavy metals f...

متن کاملPerformance of Membrane Bioreactor in Removal of Heavy Metals from Industrial Wastewater
Membrane technology is one of the few non-pollutant choices when selecting a treatment process. A membrane with suitable pore size can remove almost all pollutants without using any chemicals. In this research, chromium, zinc and lead were removed from synthetic wastewater by a membrane bioreactor. The results showed that by using a membrane bioreactor, the COD removal efficiency was increased ...
متن کاملMicrobial Bioremediation of Heavy Metals From Textile Industry Dye Effluents using Isolated Bacterial Strains
The textile industry is one of the industries that generate a high volume of waste water. Approximately 10, 000 different dyes and pigments are manufactured worldwide with a total annual market of more than 7×10 metric tones per year (Ahluwalia and Goyal, 2007). In India textile is one of the oldest establishments with nearly 1569 large cotton textiles industries, which gives employment to near...
